How Much Do Startup Founders ACTUALLY Make?

Ideas No Comments »

The richest people in the world are startup founders. But how much does the average startup founder actually make? In this video, I share the real data collected from a study of almost two hundred founders in the US

A startup founder makes money in two ways, the first is a salary, and the second way is equity. Of course the upside is all in the equity for what the company could be worth in the future if it becomes the next Tesla. We’ll look at each piece in turn.

Startup founders are in kind of an awkward position when it comes to their pay. Early on, founders have control over how much they pay themselves, but of course the company has limited runway, so founders also don’t want to increase the burn of their startup too much. Because it’s a difficult balance, I’m commonly asked by startup founders how much they SHOULD pay themselves, and I think there’s many also people who are just curious about this as well.

ABOUT SEWING REPORT:
Helping you discover your love of sewing at sewingreport.com through videos, articles, and tutorials. I aim to inject humor, passion, and realism into this space.

Let me introduce myself – I’m Jennifer Moore – Atlanta-based sewing & quilting enthusiast since 2013 and television journalist with 14+ years of experience.

Ever since I discovered sewing soon after moving from the Tampa Bay area in Florida to Atlanta, I’ve been absolutely hooked. My love of all things involving a needle and thread has driven me to brainstorm ideas of how I could contribute to the community and help to encourage others to learn to sew. If I can do it, you really can too!

I’d love to hear from you! Connect with me at sewingreport@gmail.com. Interested in collaborating on a video with me? I’m up for that too!

We made a different video today. It’s not clothing, but it’s not exactly a “hard good” either! They’re quilts, and they can go for a LOT of money! Come see 10 quilts that sold for HUNDREDS of dollars!

The quilting community is amazing. Resellers need to RESPECT the quilts. If you rescue one, make sure you know its value and price accordingly! Quilters put a lot of time, talent, and love into making quilts. The least we can do is make sure we find them great homes!
