How to Find the Startup Folder in Windows 10 [Tutorial]

Run commands:
shell:common startup
shell:startup

Do you know where the Startup folder is in Windows 10? When I was asked that question recently, my immediate thought was that it’s on the Start menu. But that hasn’t been the case since Windows 7. Now, in my defense, although I use Windows 10 at home, I have been using Windows 7 at work. So sometimes, I get confused since I’m sort of stuck in two worlds–Windows wise, that is.

In Windows operating systems, the ‘Startup’ folder is the location that contains all programs that start with Windows. So, the startup folder can be used to specify which programs are allowed to start as soon as Windows starts.

This tutorial will apply for computers, laptops, desktops, and tablets running the Windows 10 operating system (Home, Professional, Enterprise, Education) from all supported hardware manufactures, like Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba,Lenovo, and Samsung).

A lot on has changed since Windows 7, and in Windows 10, your startup folder is hidden far within the data structure of your OS. Because this folder contains app shortcuts that start when you boot your PC, it can be very useful when trying to troubleshoot specific boot issues, so knowing how to arrive at your StartUp folder is a must-have skill.
